Start with permission and the audience for the case
Before drafting, decide what you are allowed to share and with whom. Public publication, an application attachment and a private interview are different disclosure contexts. Ask the owner of the material for permission where necessary and record the scope. Removing a name may not be enough if dates, a distinctive persona, a location and exact revenue make the creator recognizable. When there is doubt, use a fictional reconstruction rather than relying on a thin redaction.
Design the case around permission
The reviewer needs to understand your work, not identify the client. State the business model, a broad audience description and the decision you owned. Avoid including raw exports, subscriber identifiers, credentials or private messages. Strip image metadata and check document comments and hidden spreadsheet tabs before sharing. If some figures are indexed or altered, explain that and keep the relationships consistent. Permission is a constraint on case design, not an obstacle to be overcome with a more convincing screenshot. A credible portfolio makes its evidence boundary obvious from the opening page.
Write a case brief with a clear decision
Open the case with a short statement of the original question. For example, a fictional subscription creator may receive substantial non-explicit content views while few qualified adults explore the permitted offer. Explain why that was the priority rather than listing every activity the team performed. Name the available resources, the platform restrictions and the creator-approved boundaries that shaped the options.
Then describe your scope. Did you choose the experiment, write the brief, operate the channel, analyze results or coordinate the team? Several contributions can be valuable, but they should not be blurred together. Include the alternatives you considered and why you selected the next test. This gives the reviewer a way to assess judgment before seeing the outcome. A case that only says “we increased growth” hides the part that differentiates a manager from a participant. Keep the brief understandable without specialist tool knowledge so the discussion stays on the decision rather than the software used to present it.
Make the funnel table reproducible
Show the observation period, source definition and population behind each stage. A compact table can contain tracked visitors, new free subscribers, new paid subscribers and acquisition cost. Put the formulas next to the numbers. If a visitor becomes paid later, explain the conversion window and whether the cohort is mature enough for comparison. Do not combine one week’s visitors with an unrelated stock of existing subscribers and label the result a conversion rate.
Include a before-and-after comparison only when the periods are reasonably comparable, then describe the remaining confounders. A price change, different source mix or tracking outage can alter the interpretation. Where attribution is incomplete, report an attributed subset and an unknown group rather than forcing every result into a channel. Distinguish gross revenue, net receipts and profit. You may not have enough information to calculate the latter. The portfolio should demonstrate that you can maintain these distinctions even when a simpler story would look more impressive to a casual reader.
Show creative judgment and a working brief
Include one original non-explicit brief that links the audience insight to a testable creative choice. Specify the hook, format, creator approval, permitted call to action and what the editor should measure. Explain which elements are fixed and which element changes between variants. If the destination is not permitted by the platform, remove that route; a link hub is not a compliance solution.
You can show a wireframe, a text storyboard or an asset checklist without publishing a creator’s original material. Label proposed work as proposed. If a sample was never produced or tested, do not attach fabricated performance numbers. A useful case may show a rejected concept and the reason for rejection, including consent or policy concerns. That demonstrates decision quality. Give the reviewer enough production detail to understand whether the idea was feasible within the team’s capacity. A brief that requires unavailable footage, unlicensed music or constant creator availability is incomplete even if the hook sounds appealing.
Explain the result without claiming more than the design supports
Separate observation, interpretation and action. The observation might be a change in qualified profile visits. Your interpretation could be that the new series format helped audience understanding, while acknowledging that publishing conditions differed. The action might be to repeat with a cleaner comparison or stop because downstream quality weakened. These are different statements and should occupy different lines in the case.
Include an inconclusive or unsuccessful example if it demonstrates learning. Explain what information was missing and what you changed in the process afterward. Avoid presenting correlation as proof of a single cause, especially in organic channel tests with small samples. If a result was simulated, say so near the figure, not only in a distant disclaimer. A manager’s portfolio is not a competition to display the largest multiplier. It is evidence that you can use imperfect information responsibly, coordinate the right next step and explain the commercial consequence to someone who must allocate resources.
Package the portfolio for a hiring discussion
Aim for a small number of complete cases rather than a large gallery of disconnected screenshots. Each case should have a readable summary, evidence, creative decision and next action. Include a short English founder update so the reviewer can assess asynchronous communication. Put detailed calculations in an appendix while keeping the headline definitions visible. Check that links work without requiring access to your former employer’s systems.
For a fictional case, include a data dictionary and the assumptions needed to reproduce the figures. Explain which parts demonstrate your existing skills and which parts are learning exercises. When applying to Bunny, use anonymized examples and consult the current vacancy for experience and language requirements. A portfolio supports the application but does not substitute for required hands-on growth experience. Before sending it, ask a reviewer to identify your contribution, the denominator and the main uncertainty. If those are hard to find, simplify the case. The final document should help an interview begin at the right level of detail.
Questions about this topic
How many cases should I include?
There is no required portfolio count in the brief. A few complete, permissioned cases are more useful than many unsupported screenshots. Choose examples that cover analysis, creative judgment and ownership.
Can I use fictional data?
Yes, if every simulated input and result is clearly labeled. A fictional case can demonstrate calculations and planning. It must not be presented as a real client outcome or a substitute for required experience.
Is removing the creator’s name enough?
Not always. Combined details can identify someone even without a name. Review dates, distinctive content, metadata and exact figures. If sharing remains uncertain, reconstruct the case with fictional information.
Should I include subscriber chats?
Do not expose private fan conversations. Explain the aggregate feedback and business implication instead. Hiring reviewers can assess a handover process without receiving identifiable subscriber data.
What if my test failed?
Show the original hypothesis, the observed result, the design limitation and the next decision. A careful account of failure can demonstrate judgment and ownership more clearly than an unsupported success claim.
Which file format is best?
Use a readable format with working access permissions and a compact summary. The format matters less than reproducible figures, clear labels and safe disclosure. Avoid links that depend on confidential company accounts.
