Why apply from Nairobi
Nairobi applicants who already write for overseas clients can bring useful habits: checking the brief, asking a clear question and delivering a concise update. The assessment still matters. Writing a persuasive reply in a creator’s approved voice is different from producing an academic essay or filling an article with formal language. Aim for clear, natural messages and careful attention to what the subscriber actually said.
Treat the connection as a working tool
Test home internet at the hours you plan to work. If mobile data is your backup, practise switching without leaving the computer unattended or exposing client information on a shared device. Keep a separate way to tell the team that you have lost connectivity. A provider’s city coverage map cannot confirm the performance of your own desk, building or backup power arrangement.
A fixed shift changes how you accept other projects
Freelance writers often combine several small deadlines, but a subscriber inbox needs your attention continuously. If you also take marketplace projects, check for overlapping work rather than assuming you can answer both at once. Plan sleep after the local finish shown in the table. The absence of a Nairobi commute helps your day, but it does not make a full scheduled role a collection of spare-minute tasks.
Nairobi: Application questions
Can Nairobi applicants receive pay through M-Pesa?
The approved Kenya guide explains the bank-transfer arrangement. Do not assume a local wallet is supported because another remote employer uses it. Check your own receiving bank before accepting an offer.
Does Nairobi change clocks for US daylight saving?
Nairobi uses Africa/Nairobi in this model and keeps the same local offset in both examples. The US change moves the local hours corresponding to an American evening, which is why both rows matter.
Is Swahili offered for the Nairobi interview?
Swahili is not among the published interview options. Consult the language panel for supported languages. Written English remains part of the assessment even when you choose another supported interview language.
Can a Nairobi writer keep other freelance projects?
Only promise availability you can maintain without overlapping active work. The chatter schedule is substantial and fixed. Compare deadlines, rest and household commitments before committing to two roles at the same time.
Should a Nairobi applicant use formal essay-style English?
Practise clear conversational writing instead. Answer the subscriber’s question, use appropriate tone and avoid unnecessary complexity. The goal is an understandable exchange in the creator’s voice, not an academic writing sample.
A shift on your local clock
East coast 18:00–01:00 → Nairobi: 02:00 (+1d)–09:00 (+1d) (2027-01-15) / 01:00 (+1d)–08:00 (+1d) (2027-07-15). These US audience windows are planning assumptions, not measured traffic or an account assignment. Plan uninterrupted desk time and enough rest around the confirmed shift.
Timezone: Africa/Nairobi. A +1d marker means the next local calendar day relative to the reference date. January and July show seasonal examples; confirm the actual work date.
| Reference date (US) | East coast 18:00–01:00 | West coast 18:00–01:00 |
|---|---|---|
| 2027-01-15 | 02:00 (+1d)–09:00 (+1d) | 05:00 (+1d)–12:00 (+1d) |
| 2027-07-15 | 01:00 (+1d)–08:00 (+1d) | 04:00 (+1d)–11:00 (+1d) |
Three eight-hour coverage examples
The contract specifies shift length but no public start times. These UTC-aligned planning examples help you discuss availability; actual starts and openings are confirmed during hiring. They are not three advertised Bunny shift options.
| UTC example | 2027-01-15 local | 2027-07-15 local |
|---|---|---|
| 00:00–08:00 UTC | 03:00–11:00 | 03:00–11:00 |
| 08:00–16:00 UTC | 11:00–19:00 | 11:00–19:00 |

Earnings depend on plan, hours and sales and are not guaranteed. There is no city-specific salary. Payment and freelance registration guidance is in the country guide.
Power and internet. Home fibre is the safest choice for an 8-hour shift. Keep mobile data on your phone as a hotspot backup, and if outages are common in your area, a small UPS for the router keeps you online through short power cuts.
Getting paid. Pay arrives by bank transfer on the 1st and 16th; Bunny covers its own transfer fees. We do not pay through M-Pesa, so check with your bank that your account can receive international USD transfers and what it charges to convert them.
Taxes. As a freelancer for Bunny Agency LLC (USA), nothing is deducted for you. Declaring your income with KRA is your responsibility — check with a local accountant how freelance foreign income should be filed.
